Who We Are

  • Entrust the Word, named after the call in 2 Timothy to guard, preserve, and pass on the word of God, exists as an equipping resource to enable people to know God for themselves in His word. While many processes of study are helpful when studying the Bible, Entrust the Word focuses centrally on teaching Inductive Bible study.  We aim to offer resources that clarify each step of this process - Why study the Bible? How do I study the Bible? Where do I start? How do I teach others? What resources do I use?  Whether you are just now hearing the name of Jesus or have walked in deep relationship with God for years, we pray the content of Entrust the Word points you to the gospel of Jesus Christ and to personal study of His Word so that, by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may know and walk with Him.

"You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses,
entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."
    2 Timothy 2:1-2

  • THE GODHEAD.
We believe in one eternally existing triune God--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--who created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them (Genesis 1-2; Exodus 20:11; Psalm 146:6). All things were created by Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16).

    MANKIND.
We believe that God created mankind male and female in His image for His glory and gave them dominion over the earth. Through Adam's sin, mankind fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from and hostile to God (Genesis 3; Colossians 1:21). There is none righteous, not even one (Romans 3:10-12); all of mankind is totally depraved and completely unable to reconcile himself to God (Psalm 51:5; Romans 5:6).

THE PERSON AND WORK OF JESUS CHRIST.
Because of His great love for the world and for the sake of His name, God sent Jesus Christ, His only Son begotten of the Father, to be born of a virgin, live a sinless life, die for the sins of mankind, and rise again (John 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 15:1-10; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2. Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, accomplished the work of redemption for mankind through His substitutionary, atoning death on the cross and His literal, bodily resurrection from the dead.  We believe that He ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of God, and acts as our Intercessor, Advocate, and High Priest until He comes again to judge the living and the dead (Romans 8:24, 1 John 1:1-2; Hebrews 7:25; Hebrews 9:24; 1 Peter 4:5, Romans 14:9; 2 Timothy 4:1).

THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.
We believe that the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, opens the eyes of the heart to the beauty of Jesus Christ, and indwells and seals believers who by faith are united to Christ. The Holy Spirit regenerates the heart at salvation (Titus 3:5), transforms believers into the image of the Son, and empowers believers to obey God and grow in holiness (Galatians 3:3; 5:22-23; 2 Corinthians 3:16-17). We believe the study of the word of God is dependent upon the work of the Holy Spirit to apply truth to the heart and life.

    SALVATION.
We believe that salvation is a free gift from God, by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. Through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, those who place faith in Him for the forgiveness of their sins are declared righteous by God because of the finished work of Christ on their behalf. In salvation, believers are transferred from the domain of darkness to the kingdom of the Beloved Son, pass from spiritual death to life, are born again, and become children of God forever ( John 3:7; Ephesians 2:1-10; Colossians 1:13; 1 Peter 1:3-5; Romans 8:14-15). Salvation is only available through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12).

    THE SCRIPTURES.
We believe that each and every part of the 66 books of the Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are God's inspired, perfect, complete word. We believe that the word of God is His divine revelation of Himself to mankind, and the final authority on all matters of faith and life. We believe the word of God is necessary for the life and growth of every believer (Matthew 4:4; 1 Peter 2:1-2). We commit to faithfully, prayerfully studying the text to accurately understand the single meaning God intended in all its matters.

    THE CHURCH.
We believe that the church is the bride of Christ universal people of God, made up of born-again believers in Jesus Christ who are now being built up into a spiritual household (Ephesians 2:17-22; 5:25-27). Its ultimate mission is to bring glory to God by making disciples. We believe in the importance of established local churches where believers gather for the preaching of the word, corporate worship, communion, service, and fellowship (Acts 14:27, 18:22, 20:17; 1 Timothy 3:1-3; Titus 1:5-11).

We also affirm the Nicene Creed.
We are committed to contending for the faith that was once for all passed down to the saints, as well as to upholding, preserving, and adorning the true doctrine of God (Jude 3, Titus 2:10).

MEET THE TEAM

Katherine Ann

Founder
Katherine Ann came to know the Lord at a young age and learned to study her Bible inductively in 6th grade. God used the tool of inductive Bible study to make Scripture come alive, get her into His word for herself, and grow her love for Jesus. Since middle school, Katherine Ann has used the tool of inductive study to seek the Lord in Scripture, and counts it joy when the Lord brings someone to study it with her. She interned at Precept Ministries International in 2016 and has remained involved with the ministry in various capacities. She also has supported her local church and other ministries by designing and writing inductive Bible study curriculum for them. Katherine Ann is passionate about women knowing their Bible for themselves, the local church, and life-on-life discipleship. She holds a B.A. (Baylor University), a M.S. (Texas Christian University), and a Ph.D. (University of Oklahoma) in Communication Studies. She taught on faculty in the Business school at the University of Oklahoma and is now an assistant professor of organizational communication at Baylor University. She researches organizational communication topics including rest, resilience, and support in the workplace. Katherine Ann's simple joys include good coffee, the Baylor bears, and confetti.

She began to utilize it centrally in discipleship opportunities, particularly in her previous role as college ministry intern at her local church in Waco, Texas. Over her past few years in Houston, TX, she has taught inductive study in her local church (Christ Our Hope), home, and YoungLife ministry role. She is passionate about the local church, serving pressing needs around her, and life-on-life discipleship. Hannah holds a B.A. and M.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders (Baylor University) and is currently serving as a speech-language pathologist in the Houston area. She has completed her Masters of Theological Studies at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She loves books, the mountains, and simple days.
